What Is Love?
What Is Love? Love means something different to everybody, and sometimes when people are in relationships they get… clashes, let’s say, it’s because their version of love might be different to their partner’s version of love, so sometimes it’s important to have that conversation and ask that question: What does it mean to you? ‘Cause they might be surprised by the answer.
Love is about sharing who you really are with somebody and people assisting each other to be the best that they can be. It’s about listening and being supportive, trust, honesty, fun, friendship.
Love is about acceptance. If you can accept somebody 100% just the way that they are and just the way that they’re not, then I believe that is love.
And when you have that sort of acceptance of yourself then that’s love as well. If you can love yourself, if you can accept yourself just the way you are and just the way that you’re not, then to me that is love.
I interviewed today one amazing men. He‘s got beautiful relationship for more than 35 years and 6 children. He is a builder and he is in early sixty. He gave the brilliant and simple answer to my question “What does love mean to you?”
“ Love is renewing itself all the time. It’s like a flower that is faded and it buds again and suddenly you have a new love but you’ve still, same person, same person but it buds again, so the flower wilters and they are, close it in night time or it gets a bit droopy because it needs watering and you put a bit of water on it and then it jumps again and I guess that’s, um, that’s what I would think it is.
Because life is not all Hollywood and that you’re smiles all the time, because it’d get very hard on your cheeks to be smiling all the time, you have to have some tears and you have to have some differences, and viva the differences sometimes because, the flower will not bud again if things don’t do, you know they need, I think it needs that up and down part. Like a good song with high and low the minimum crescendo, the crescendo, like music is like that and I think that life is like that too.”
